What do I do if I can't (can not) connect to my vps (can't connect to remote desktop)?
If for some reason you can not access your vps (no connection to vps) via remote desktop (remote connection, terminal services) or SSH / Web for linux vps then the please follow the procudure below before submiting a support ticket.
- Log in to your VPS Control Panell.
- Select Reboot Option (make a note of any errors you may see).
- Wait 5 minutes.
- Try to Connect to your Windows XP VPS with remote desktop
- If You have a linux VPS then try to connect in usual way (web, ssh etc)
If the above fails then please try the steps below :-
- For Windows VPS Load up your VNC Client (such as tight VNC or Real VNC *all VNC clients should work*)
- Enter Your VNC IP/Host/Port and log in to your windows vps.
- If you can connect via VNC then you should check your firewall / antivirus software for blocked remote desktop port (3389 is the default port)
- You can now fix your windows vps via vnc.
- For linux vps log in to your VPS Control Panel and select console (you can use your hypervm username with vm added to the end (no spaces and no dot's) to log into your vps with your usual SSH client such as putty.
- You can then fix your linux vps
- or you can power off your linux vps and access filemanager to fix files.
